IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a known issue with MOD autoactivation in 1.03 dealing with passworded servers. If you are attempting to join a passworded server of any kind, be sure to manually activate the MOD in question before trying to join (this also applies to connecting to passworded retail BF2 servers if you currently have a different Mod activated).

EA Recruit New Spokesman! BF2 Patch Works!

Yes it is now official as reported by CNN. EA has officially recruited a new spokesman who has just gone on record stating:

“There are no problems with the Battlefield 2 account servers. The next patch will work on all machines without any problems.”

EA has also officially slated that this new patch will be one of the largest patches ever seen by anyone ever. Weighing in at 3.2 gigabytes there is speculation this patch actually replaces every single file in the game.

Battlefield 2 GPU Performance Benchmarks

Anandtech has ran performance tests for various video cards with Battlefield 2.

There are three categories of tests budget, mid-range and high performance. Each containing a number of video cards. The tests show that the highest end video cards are not required for Battlefield 2. And that budget and mid-range cards are fine for all but the most picky players.

EA Recalls BF2 1.0.1 Patch

EA has recalled the Battlefield 2 1.0.1 patch, citing memory leaks as the issue. Reinstall recommanded for those who installed the patch.

HOTFIX for Battlefield 2 v1.01 Coming Soon
First off, a HUGE thanks to all of you who emailed me in regards to the memory leak found in the update we released earlier this week (v1.01). Your emails found their way to our production team and they’re in the process of evaluating what needs to be done in order to get this fixed. In the meantime, and since the 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update we released earlier this week.

Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days.

And I just installed this stupid piece of #@&*!
